The Dangers of Cheap Plastic Surgery

Category: Plastic Surgeryadmin @ 5:33 pm

There is a dangerous trend sweeping across the country, the trend of cheap plastic surgery. It’s no secret that the economy is hurting and everyone has to cut corners to make end’s meet now and then but cutting corners when it comes to your health is something you should never do, especially when it comes to plastic surgery procedures.

Recently, 22 year old Pacoima resident Mayra Contreras became sick on July 23 and was taken to a hospital but died later that evening. It’s reported that she received silicone injections used for facial fillers and buttock augmentation by 2 sisters Alejandra and Guadalupe Viveros. The Viveros sisters that allegedly ran an unlicensed medical clinic in Sylmar. The silicone they used was non-medical grade silicon.

The silicone, which is injected into the face or buttocks of patients hardens into solid plastic after time. Many patients have reported feeling sick and getting infections after undergoing these dangerous medical procedures.

The two sisters, Alejandra and Guadalupe Viveros; who claimed to be a physician in Mexico, but is not licensed to practice medicine in the United States, were arrested in June for medical malpractice but failed to show for their arraignment. It is now believed that they have fled to Mexico after this recent death.

The use of low-grade or non-medical grade silicon is used in unlicensed clinics throughout the country. Promises of fuller lips, rounder butts and larger breasts at a fraction of the cost of traditional plastic surgery lure many who desperately feel the need for self improvement but can’t afford it.  Often times, many in the transgender community are the ones to suffer the ill effects of these dangerous procedures because their medical coverage wont cover the procedures they want, or they just cant afford it.

Research Your Surgeon

Risks with plastic surgery are not reserved for the back alley practices either.

Many complications arise at the hands of fully licensed and qualified medical professionals. You should always research the plastic surgeon you are interested in. Just like he holds a consultation with you to decide if you are physically and mentally fit for the surgery, you should check his credentials to make sure he is capable of performing the procedure you want done.

A surgeon doesn’t have to be Board Certified in plastic surgery to perform these procedures. In fact, some doctors who offer plastic surgery do so outside of their field of expertise. For example, there are dentists who offer facial fillers along with full facelifts, while dermatologists try their hand at breast augmentation.

Doing your research will help you make the right choice when it comes to your surgery.

Remember, just because you save some money now on cheap plastic surgery, doesn’t really help you if you die from it later.

Americas Big Butt Obsession

Category: Plastic Surgeryadmin @ 2:26 pm

It’s no secret that the accepted image of beauty has changed throughout the years. From the plump and curvaceous women in the art depicted by Renaissance painters to the wafer thin models of the 80’s and 90’s, beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. But if the recent statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery are correct, America is becoming obsessed with big buttocks. Even though there were only 4,996 buttock augmentation procedures performed in 2009; compared to the 311,957 breast augmentation procedures performed, that’s still a 37.3% increase of butt augmentation surgeries performed in 2008 with virtually none being performed in 1997.

That, plus a simple Google search for phrases like “bigger buttocks exercises“, “butt implants” or “butt augmentation” brings up between 543,000 and 1,310,000 results, it’s clear to see Americans like bigger butts.

What’s Behind This Big Buttocks Trend?

Models like Vida Guerra and celebrities such as Kim Kardashian definitely have something to do with making bigger bottoms popular again. You would be hard pressed to find a fashion or tabloid magazine that doesn’t mention or show pictures of the buttocks of one of these lovely ladies.

Everyone wants to know what butt exercises do they do? How can I get my butt to look this good? Sadly, the majority of the answers come down to simple genetics. Those of us not lucky enough to inherit such luck from our parents still have hope and its called plastic surgery.

The Popularity of Brazilian Butt Augmentation and Implants

All this obsession with wanting the perfect rear end has led to a new plastic surgery procedure known as Brazilian Butt Augmentation or Brazilian Butt Implants. Named so after the “famous” round buttocks of the women of Brazil, women are lining up to enhance the size and shape of their butt.

This procedure was first introduced a few years ago by a small hand full of surgeons but can now be found being performed at almost every plastic surgery center from the east to the west coast. Plastic surgeon’s like Constantino Mendieta M.D. have trained for years in Brazil to learn the specifics of this technique and has even developed his own adaption to it with the use of Fat Transfer using your own fat to help give you that rounder bottom.

Safe to say the popularity of bigger butts’ in America and the butt augmentation trend itself will continue to grow , until the next idea of beauty changes once again.

What are your thoughts?

Weird Plastic Surgery Trends

Category: Plastic Surgeryadmin @ 6:37 pm

Everyone is used to the regular plastic surgery procedures that most celebrities and non celebrities have. Procedures such as breast augmentation to increase the size of your breasts, butt implants or Brazilian butt augmentation to give you a more curvaceous butt. Liposuction to tone up your tummy and Botox to help hide some of those unwanted lines on your face.

But then there are the not so common cosmetic surgery procedures that are starting to gain in popularity.

Strange Plastic Surgery Procedures

The OC Register’s blog “In Your Face” recently spoke with a few Southern California plastic surgeons who gave their opinion’s on these procedures. You can read the full list here and see what the doctors have to say.

  • Dimpleplasty: Wish you had those cute little pits in your face? Well now you can, just be careful, a dimple can turn into a crease after time.
  • Cleft Chin Surgery: If you’re a guy who thinks a dent in your chin will help you look more masculine, well just look at Michael Jackson.
  • Abdominal Etching: This one is for all the people who just can’t seem to get that washboard look on their stomach. The problem though comes from this just removing and shifting existing fat deposits around and is not actual muscle. So later in life, when you start putting on weight like most people do, you start putting it on in weird places and you can look a little frumpy.
  • Cankle Liposuction: Admit it, we’ve all seen them, when your calf fat works its way down to your ankles and you can’t tell where one starts and the other stops.
  • Iris Implants: Tired of having to put in those colored contact lenses every time you want to change your look? Change the color of your eyes surgically. Although, I wouldn’t want to risk loosing my eyesight just to change my brown eyes to blue.
  • Toddler Teeth Whitening: Those baby teeth just not as shiny white as you’d want them to be? Actually If you know of an dentist willing to perform this procedure on a child, please someone report him.
  • Collagen Feet Fillers: Those Dr. Scholls shoe inserts too much of a hassle for you to use everyday? Inject some collagen into your heel to help cushion your walk.
  • Pubic Hair Transplant: Probably the oddest plastic surgery trend here. Allegedly its primarily a trend in Asian cultures, probably because they are the only race who has pubic hair that is fine and straight compared to the coarse and curly type that the rest of the world has.

Anti-Rape Condom with Teeth in South Africa

Category: Homeadmin @ 4:13 pm

There is a new device being tested to help prevent rape in South Africa, a female condom with teeth.

The new anti-rape condom is known officially as Rape-aXe and is not designed to leave permanent damage to the penis of the attacker. The non-lethal condom will have rows of jagged latex hooks that latch onto the skin of the would be rapist. Besides the pain associated with this, scars will be left that the attacker may have to explain to his wife or girlfriend and could act as another deterrent in raping women.

South Africa has one of the world’s highest crime rates with around 50 murders and 140 reported rapes each day, but officials believe the real numbers of rape could be much higher due to fear of retribution of the attackers if the victim reports them.

Dr. Sonnet Ehler came up with the idea of an Anti-Rape condom almost 40 years ago while counseling rape victims.

Some feel though that this form of prevention is putting the responsibility of preventing rape on the victim instead of on the attackers them self.

Personally, I feel that this is the same as a woman protecting her self with mace, pepper spray or self defense training. If a man is determined to commit a crime against a woman, she should be allowed to defend her self anyway she can.

The anti-rape condom can be worn for up to 24 hours at a time. Hopefully this will act as a deterrent for future rapists to think first before their next attack, not knowing who may be wearing one of these condoms.

Autism Doesn’t Mean The End

Category: Homeadmin @ 8:33 pm

When a child is diagnosed with Autism, many parents fear there child will suffer from a lack of social interaction in life and school, struggle with communication and more or less lead a less then successful life. But that doesn’t always have to be the case and one Rhode Island High School Salutatorian Eric Duquette is proof .

Diagnosed with being autistic at an early age, Eric Duquette’s parents were told that he would most likely end up in an institution. His parents had other plans in mind and their hard work paid off. Today Eric Duquette; the boy who didn’t speak one word until he was 5 years old, now speaks both English and Spanish, is the Salutatorian of his High School, was accepted into every college he applied to and will be attending Rhode Island College this fall. Clearly being autistic hasn’t stopped the hopes and dream’s of this family and proves Autism doesn’t have to mean the end. Watch the amazing and inspiration graduation speech from Eric Duquette to his high school class of 2010.

Did Kim Kardashian Have Butt Implants

Category: Plastic Surgeryadmin @ 8:21 pm

kim kardashian buttCelebrities and plastic surgery go hand in hand. Almost every celebrity has had plastic surgery or cosmetic enhancements of some sort, be it liposuction, Botox injections, facelift or breast augmentation.

But a new procedure has began to gain more popularity recently then any other one before it. I’m talking about butt augmentation. And one can’t talk about butt augmentation and celebrities without asking the obvious question, does Kim Kardashian have butt implants?

In a recent interview on ABC Nightline, Kim Kardashian spoke candidly about whether or not she has ever had plastic surgery. To the disbelief of many people out there, Kim says she has never undergone a plastic surgery procedure. She admits to having Botox injections in the past but nothing else and especially never had any type of butt augmentation or butt lift.

Brazilian Butt Lift and Augmentation

The fact that Kim Kardashian’s butt is considered to be a news worthy topic goes to show the extent in which American’s have become obsessed with plastic surgery and butt augmentation. Recent stats from The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), show that there has been an increase of 37% in buttock augmentation surgery with 4,996 procedures done and a 24.6% increase in buttock lift procedures with 3,024 procedures in 2009 from 2008.

Now these numbers really don’t sound that impressive compared to the 311,957 breast augmentations performed last year but considering there were virtually no butt augmentation procedures performed just 10 years ago this definitely shows a rise in this procedure. There is even a specific type of butt lift that many women have performed.

The Brazilian Butt Lift, so named from the curvaceous rear-ends of the women on the beach’s of Brazil. The Brazilian butt lift is so popular that a quick Google search will show over a million results ranging from surgeons across the country who perform the surgery to 5 minute workouts you can do at home to get the voluptuous, sexy round butt that every women wants.

Its clear to see that buttock augmentation surgery is here to stay and will only rise in popularity in the coming years.

Benefits of Breast Reduction Surgery

Category: Plastic Surgeryadmin @ 1:07 am

When people think of breast augmentation, they usually think about getting breast implants to increase their breast size. Face it, in America large breast are popular. This is obvious by the recent statistics released from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that shows a documented 311,957 breast augmentation surgeries were performed across America in 2009.

But breast augmentation, also known as breast enhancement or enlargement and medically known as augmentation mammoplasty;  isn’t the only breast surgery procedure that is popular.

Breast reduction surgery is quickly gaining popularity across the country and the benefits of breast reduction surgery are many.

Breast Reduction in the News

Statistics from the  ASAPS shows that there were 113,511 breast reduction surgeries performed last year, making breast reduction one of the top 5 most popular plastic surgery procedures for women.

In fact, breast reduction surgery has made the news recently with the decision of tennis star Simona Halep deciding to reduce her breasts from a natural 34DD to a smaller 34C, two full cup sizes smaller.

Simona Halep’s choice to reduce her breast size was based off of the discomfort she felt in her shoulders and back on a daily basis from the extra weight that her large breasts put on her upper body. Simona also felt that they hindered her performance on the the tennis court by slowing her down and getting in the way of her swing.

Sadly her decision was greeted with disapproval from her largely male fan base but she feels the procedure was necessary to improve her health and stay on top of her game.

Benefits of Breast Reduction

The most common reason women undergo breast reduction surgery is to reduce the extra strain large breast place on the upper body. Women with overly large or sagging breasts often complain of neck, back and shoulder pain. Some feel self conscious of the attention that their breasts bring while others have trouble with daily activities such as exercising or even finding clothing that fits properly. Another common reason for this procedure is when one breast is larger then the other, creating a significant asymmetry.

The good news is, all of these issues can easily be corrected with breast reduction surgery. And, depending on individual circumstances, breast reduction surgery may even be covered by your health insurance provider.

Of all the plastic surgery procedures that are available, breast reduction ranks as one of the highest in patient satisfaction, and for many, the psychological benefit alone is well worth it.

Remember when deciding to go under any type of plastic surgery procedure, do it for the right reasons, always do your research and be sure to choose a board certified plastic surgeon.

Anal Bleaching and Skin Lightening

Category: Plastic Surgeryadmin @ 8:15 pm

Deciding to have a plastic surgery procedure used to be something that people kept to themselves.

But as more people became used to the idea, the sudden boom in plastic surgery with Hollywood celebrities and numerous TV shows like Dr. 90210 that deals with plastic surgery, it has become a household term.

Even with the growing popularity and acceptance with breast augmentations, liposuction and mommy makeovers there are still some procedures that people prefer to keep to themselves. I’m talking about anal bleaching and skin lightening.

What is Anal Bleaching

Basically, anal bleaching is exactly what it sounds like. Anal bleaching is the process of lightening the area around the anus by bleaching it to get rid of any dark pigmentation. People with lighter skin tones sometimes have darker skin around the anus and vagina that may make them feel self conscious. Bleaching is used to lighten the skin purely for cosmetic purposes, making it more uniform with the surrounding area. It’s not a sign of poor hygiene as some people may think, its a natural part of life.

With the popularity of waxing when it comes to personal grooming, the adult film industry was the first to practice anal bleaching, which was quickly adopted by dancers and models. Now, everyday, average men and women across the country search the internet researching plastic surgeons, dermatologists and cosmetologists to learn more about anal bleaching or to make an appointment.

About The Procedure

The good thing about anal bleaching is that it can be performed at a medical practice or in the privacy of your own home. Almost all the time, it involves a topical treatment or cream that is applied to the area to be treated. Your medical professional will be able to examine you and decide on the best course of treatment, be it an in office application or a prescription for you to apply at home.

Additionally, practicing proper hygiene in the bathroom can help to lessen the need for skin lightening or anal bleaching. Be sure to completely clean the area every time and the use of a flushable moist wipe is highly recommended.

Remember, always do your research before undergoing any type of medical procedure and never be embarrassed to ask questions about your body. Chances are, you’re not the only one with the same questions.

Personal Appearance Matters – Benefits of Plastic Surgery

Category: Plastic Surgeryadmin @ 9:57 pm

The way you present yourself to the world says a lot about you. Sadly people make snap judgments based on the way you way look often times only giving you that one chance, forming their opinion without getting to know you. It’s no wonder that people put so much effort into the things they eat, drink and how they exercise.

Because genetics play a major role in how we look, plastic surgery often becomes a practical option for many of us. Plastic surgery isn’t just for the rich anymore. Plastic surgery procedures have become fairly affordable for most and there are plenty of financial services out there to help those who want to undergo a cosmetic procedure. So now the only question to ask is what plastic surgery procedure is best for me?

Plastic Surgery Procedures

There are numerous plastic surgery procedures out there for body contouring but the most common surgeries for women are breast augmentation and liposuction.

For men, the most common plastic surgery procedures are liposuction and male breast reduction also known as gynecomastia.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation covers a wide range of breast surgery procedures from enlarging the shape and size of a woman’s breast with the use of breast implants, a correction of breast asymmetry where one may be smaller then the other, breast reduction for women who have too large or too heavy of breasts that cause back pain all the way to breast reconstruction for those who lost one or both breasts due to breast cancer.

Liposuction

Liposuction is pretty common amongst both men and women when it comes to cosmetic surgical procedures. Liposuction is the removal of fat deposits with the use of a tool called a cannula that sucks the fat out from usually the abdominal area but can also be removed from the arms, back, neck and chest. The procedure usually last from an hour or more, depending on the area to be worked on.

Male Breast Reduction / Gynecomastia

Unique only to men but similar to female breast reduction, Gynecomastia is the removal of male breast tissue that develops in the pectoral muscles giving the appearance of female like breasts. Usually exercise or diet does not help so a surgical procedure to remove the fat cells is required.

Self Confidence in Personal Appearance

Plastic surgery isn’t always the best answer to all your problems and it should only be done if it is truly what you want and you are doing it for yourself. It’s amazing the change that you can see in people, their self esteem and in their self confidence after they have undergone a plastic surgery procedure and now are finally looking the way that they feel on the inside.

For many it makes a world of difference and puts that final touch on all the hard work they have been trying to achieve.

Are You Truly Happy

Category: Self Helpadmin @ 9:02 pm

Learning what makes you happy and what makes you feel good is a hard thing to do.
What truly makes you happy may be far different then what you think makes you happy.

Some people feel that if they had $1million then they would be pretty happy but look at all the wealthy people who aren’t happy. They’re cranky, obsessed with making more money, ignore their personal relationships and just want to acquire more and more and are never satisfied. To me this isn’t being happy.

Then there are the ones who party all the time, drink and use drugs.

Sure they may feel like and look like they are happy and having a good time but its not true. Its a false happiness that is brought on by a chemical change from substance abuse.

Alcoholics and drug users must depend on these drugs; often times at the expense of everyone else in their life to continue being happy. To me, this is not being happy.

Gambling and promiscuity are other areas where people try to find happiness where there isn’t any. Gambling and sexual conquests both give you that sudden rush and pleasure but its only temporary. It comes and goes with the roll of the dice and sometimes can result in loosing everything financially or even your life with unprotected sexual partners. To me this isn’t being happy.

How Do You Find True Happiness

Finding true happiness really isn’t that hard. In fact, all of us have already found it early on in life, we just grew up and left it behind.

Look at any 4 year old playing with their toys. They aren’t concerned with impressing anyone. They aren’t concerned with making a lot of money or having fancy cars or clothes or sleeping around with anyone.

It’s not because they are just children and don’t know about these material things; it’s because they are still doing the one thing we leave behind when we leave childhood.
They are living in the now.

Living In The Now

Living in the now means to only be concerned with that specific moment in time, not worrying about the next few hours, days or months. Not dwelling on problems from the past. Focusing right then and there on what ever it is you are doing.

If you are able to do this then you are free of all worries and concerns and only when you are able to let go of the concerns of the past or the future are you able to be relaxed and let yourself truly be happy.
